Ambikapur (Altitude: 603 M, Population: 65999) is a small quiet town and the District headquarter of Surguja district of Chhattisgarh State. The district is bordered by Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. 
Several rivers namely, Kanhar, Moran, Rihand and Mahan have passed through this district. Most of the terrain of the district is forested and hilly. Major tourist areas near Ambikapur are Mainpat (Mainpat is called as Shimla of Surguja.
