Location : Jogindernagar (Altitude 1220 M) is situated at a distance of 56 KM from Mandi on Mandi-Pathankot National Highway 20. After Jogindernagar, the highways passes through Baijnath (21 KM), Palampur (38 KM), Pathankot, etc.

General description : Joginder Sen, the ruler of mandi built the hydel power unit at Sukrahatti village in 1925. Subsequently the place has been named as Jogindernagar. The place is famous for its Haulage ways. The reservoir has been constructed at Barot (1900 M). Barot is the gateway of beautiful and wild life rich Barot valley and Nargu Wildlife sanctuary. The Trout fish breeding farm located at Barot releases Trout fish into the river Uhi. The Resident Engineer issues permit to travel by haulage trolley against an indemnity bond of Rs.5/-. The total time taken for the trip is about 5 hours. The office of the Electricity Board remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Bus is also available at 9 AM from Jogindernagar to Barot in 2 hours. At the top of the hill, there is temple of Banderi devi under the shadow if Pine and Cedar trees.

Baijnath: The tourists after spending one night at Jogindernagar (22 KM away) can proceed to Dharamsala and on the way they can visit the Baidyanath temple built in 804 A.D. at Baijnath. It is small town at 1360 M altitude. The cluster of 16 temples are there in the temple compound. The Dhauladhar range on its north is clearly visible. Bus: There are frequent bus services from Mandi to Jogindernagar as well as from Kangra/Dharamsala. All buses from Chandigarh/ Shimla towards Dharamsala/ Dalhousie stops at Jogindernagar. A good number of buses starts from Mandi for different destinations in Himachal Pradesh as well as adjacent States including Delhi. This apart all the buses to and from Manali passes through Mandi, except the direction from Manali to Leh/Keylong/Kaza. The buses take 5 hours to reach Shimla and Pathankot. Chandigarh: 5 hours; Delhi: 11 Hours; Mandi can be approached from Chandigarh or Shimla or Pathankot. The tourists from Delhi should travel along NH 21 via Chandigarh-Ropar to Mandi without going to Shimla. There is early morning bus from Chandigarh ISBT at Sector 17. Rail: From Jogindernagar narrow gauge train runs to Pathankot in about 5 hours. It crosses over 950 bridges, 2 tunnels and passes through lush green Kangra valley tea garden.
